Last week was the first real week of trading for the year as far as the stock market is concerned.

We had a full five sessions, remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and other officials, Consumer Price Index inflation data and other reports, not to mention the big banks kicked off earnings season with their quarterly reports on Friday.

As we move into the thick of earnings season, I expect activity and volatility to pick up.
