The markets rose Monday morning as investors prepare for the latest economic data and commentary from the Federal Reserve.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. ET on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Investors are keen to hear the Fed’s current thoughts on inflation, and the next steps in its rate-hiking campaign.

Investors are also awaiting Friday’s jobs report, which will shed more light on the strength of the jobs market and the economy. Friday’s report follows January’s blowout number that revealed the economy added 517,000 jobs versus 187,000 expected.
