The major indexes are mixed Wednesday morning following Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s comments on Tuesday.

Powell confirmed interest rates may need to go higher for a longer period of time, echoing what several other Fed officials have said in recent weeks.

February’s private payrolls report came in stronger than expected, suggesting the economy can withstand higher rates, further stoking investors’ fears concerning future rate hikes.
