The markets rose Thursday morning as U.S. gross domestic product came in better than expected — and more in Thursday’s stock market recap.

GDP came in at 2.9% quarter over quarter, lower than the previous figure of 3.2% but higher than the 2.7% expected, indicating that the economy remains strong even as investors continue to fear a coming recession.

GDP wasn’t the only number that gave the market a lift… Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) reported solid earnings and record revenue for the previous quarter after the close Wednesday, sending shares up 7% during after-market hours.
