Investors fear the Federal Reserve might overtighten as it continues to raise interest rates, causing the major indexes to slide — and more in Thursday’s stock market recap.
December’s Producer Price Index came in below estimates, again hinting that inflation has peaked.
The most recent jobless claims, however, indicate that the labor market remains strong even amid a slowing economy.
Initial filings for unemployment hit the lowest level since late June at 190,000 versus forecasts of 214,000. This has investors wondering if the Fed will continue raising rates even as inflation is showing signs of easing.
In other news, consumer staples giant Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG) reported year-over-year declines in both profit and revenue, causing shares to fall 3% in premarket trading.
In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss why stocks are imploding… which sectors to stay away from… when I’m looking to sell the bond market… how to avoid getting sucked into false breakouts… which sector continues to lead and which has the most vulnerability… plus which earnings reports are most crucial and why.

P.S. The Market Shift That’s Turned Stock Trading on its Head
There’s been a huge change in the markets lately.
You’ve probably felt it in your own trading.
It used to be that stock prices pushed around the direction of options prices…
But for the first time ever, we’re now seeing so many options contracts being traded… options are pushing around the underlying stocks!
It’s getting to the point where it may soon be more important to analyze options data than the stock itself to forecast potential opportunities…
And to be completely honest — this is a huge shift that most traders have no idea how to handle.
But Jack Carter has teamed up with Celeste Lindman to share a single, critical stock that could see huge upside from this major change.
And they just went live to share how you can get ahead of the curve and take advantage of this seismic shift.
P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.

Each Thursday, I’ll combine two of my favorite things into a big-money opportunity: options plays and ETFs. Using options, we can turn momentum analysis of a specific sector — or even an entire country’s stock market — into an actionable trade with double- or triple-digit upside potential. I’ll give you all the details you need to execute this plan.
