The major indexes fell Friday morning as investors worried over still-high inflation — and more in Friday’s stock market recap.
This week’s Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index reports indicate inflation hasn’t peaked, which is weighing on the markets.
Investors are also considering St. Louis Federal Reserve President James Bullard’s recent comments… Bullard said he backed a 0.50% rate hike at the central bank’s most recent meeting when it raised its benchmark 0.25%, and he believes such a move could be on the table at the upcoming meeting in March.
With Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin scheduled to speak about the labor market on Friday, investors will be waiting to hear more hints of what’s to come next in the Fed’s rate-hiking campaign.
