The major indexes were mixed Monday morning as traders considered the strength of the global financial sector in the wake of the recent banking crisis.
News broke that UBS will take over struggling Credit Suisse, helping regional banks to recover from last week’s carnage.
The SPDR Regional Banking ETF (NYSE: KRE) rose 2.7% premarket following its 14% tumble last week.
U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) and Truist Financial Corporation (NYSE: TFC) also rose early Monday morning, while First Republic Bank (NYSE: FRC) fell 17% in premarket trading.
