The S&P 500 and Nasdaq jumped Thursday morning on a strong earnings report from Nvidia.

NVIDIA Corp. (Nasdaq: NVDA) beat both top- and bottom-line estimates and reported stronger-than-expected revenue guidance for the second quarter, causing shares to surge 25%.

Its rally lifted other semiconductor stocks, with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (Nasdaq: AMD) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE: TSM) each rising about 9% and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (Nasdaq: SMH) jumping 6.7%.
