The market rose Thursday morning following a strong quarterly earnings report from Facebook parent Meta Platforms.

The social media company beat both top- and bottom-line estimates. Its second-quarter guidance also came in above analysts’ expectations. The news caused shares of Meta Platforms Inc. (Nasdaq: META) to pop 13% at the market open.

All eyes are now on Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) as it prepares to report after the market close Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the latest gross domestic product report came in at 1.1% versus expectations of 2%, showing that the economy is beginning to slow.
