The major indexes fell to start the week as recent earnings reports and future guidance rattled investors.
Home improvement company The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) narrowly missed revenue expectations and revealed it expects sales to be flat in the new fiscal year, sending shares down about 4% during premarket trading.
Retail giant Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) beat both top- and bottom-line estimates, but also reported a cautious outlook for the year ahead as consumers pull back on discretionary purchases. Its shares also fell about 4% premarket.
Investors are awaiting Wednesday’s release of the Federal Reserve’s most recent meeting minutes. The central bank raised rates by 0.25% during the meeting, but investors fear stubborn inflation will keep the Fed hiking rates higher for longer, which could tip the economy toward a recession.
In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss which earnings are key this week… which Fed reports are driving the markets… what to expect from the Dow in the next few sessions… whether bonds are basing out or have more downside to give… which sectors are at the top of the game and which ones are lagging… which stocks to avoid right now… plus how to approach the market this week!

P.S. I Just Cracked the Code to a Bear or Bull Market!
I believe I’ve cracked the code to the stock market. It involves one specific chart pattern and 146 little-known stocks!
I’ve discovered a candlestick pattern with a historic win rate of 100% over the past five years on some of the most explosive stocks in the market.
They’re not speculative biotechs, risky penny stocks or crypto companies… And you won’t find a single one of them in the S&P 500!
I’m so excited about this discovery, I’m holding a special presentation — at no cost — at 1 p.m. ET this Thursday, Feb. 23, to reveal exactly how I trade the pattern and these companies.
